Taking part in organizing a convention is a unique experience. It’s an opportunity to actively contribute to the event, meet new people, and experience the convention from a whole new perspective.

Media

Key responsabilities

Before the event

To draw a Frame, click on Layout in the Toolbar, then select Frame. Now, you can click and drag anywhere on the Canvas.

During the event

Capture all key moments of the event as defined and provide shot content to the Media team daily

After the event

Creation of b-roll files for archives and future video editing

Must have base knowledge level in video shooting, framing and hardware

Integrate smoothly into the organization, anticipate important moments, be on time and adapt to schedules and sometimes the inherent unpredictability of live events

Livestream Operator (1)

Media

Responsible for the video control and live directing, from stream setup to live shutdown.

Ensures the technical and editorial quality of the livestream broadcast on Twitch.

Key responsabilities

Before the event

Take part in the livestream planning and become familiar with the technical setup - Prepare and verify the Twitch platform configuration and all required broadcast elements

During the event

Handle the live directing and control room operations, including starting and stopping the Twitch broadcast. Switch between multiple cameras live, following the event’s rhythm, key moments, and editorial guidelines.

After the event

Required Skills, Qualities and Profile

Technical expertise

Strong ease with video production environments (switcher, cameras, signal flow). Ease with livestream tools and platforms, especially Twitch.

Interpersonal skills

Ability to integrate smoothly within the organization and collaborate efficiently with on-site teams in Main Stage. Proactive mindset to anticipate key moments, punctuality, and adaptability to the inherent unpredictability of live events.

Specific Requirements

English is a plus for collaboration with the Main Stage team.

Livestream Cameraman (1)

Media

Responsible for live video capture using a broadcast camera for the livestream production.

Ensures high-quality framing, image stability, and on-air readability of all shots.

Key responsabilities

Before the event

Take part in the livestream planning and become familiar with the technical setup

During the event

Handle live camera operation and framing. Deliver clean, stable, and broadcast-ready framing, adapted to the rhythm and key moments of the event.

After the event

Required Skills, Qualities and Profile

Technical expertise

Strong command of broadcast camera operation (framing, focus, exposure, camera movement). Comfortable working within live production and livestream constraints (timing, continuity, shot safety).

Interpersonal skills

Ability to integrate smoothly into the organization and strictly follow directing instructions. Proactive attitude to anticipate key moments, punctuality, and adaptability to the inherent unpredictability of live events.

Specific Requirements

English is a plus for collaboration with the Main Stage team.

Arcade Lounge (1)

Attendee exp.

Take part in the preparation of Arcade Lounge events. Be present to ensure that events run smoothly and supervise the equipment inside the Arcade Lounge.

Inform attendees about the games and planned events, and ensure that the equipment is used properly and with care.

Key responsabilities

Before the event

Attend a few preparation meetings for the convention Work as a team on forms and/or rulesets for the assigned event

During the event

Monitor the Arcade Lounge during your shift Register loaned equipment in the Arcade Lounge database Ensure your assigned event runs smoothly (animation, room setup)

After the event

Participate in a post-mortem meeting after the closing ceremony to share feedback on the Arcade Lounge

Ensure distribution of various equipment boxes to the relevant departments and collect them at the end of the convention Repair any damage occurring during the convention

Governance

Supervise the convention and the attendees to ensure the event stays enjoyable for everyone.

Conduct patrols, either stationary or on the move, to advise participants and respond quickly if needed.

Manage the area between the convention and hotel security, and provide assistance to anyone who needs it.

Help form the teams and organize shifts, in agreement with the committee and based on your requests.

During the event

Ensure safety, supervise and advise attendees, and help the convention run smoothly.

FBL Departments

Organizing a convention requires the coordinated work of many different teams. Each department plays an essential role in creating the best possible experience for our attendees.

There are probably more of them than you might think! Here is a brief overview of each department:

ACCOUNTING

We are managing money income and expenses, getting all done correctly regarding french laws.

CONOPS

We set up the various FBL panels so that the convention goes smoothly. After all, it ain't going to setup itself!

EVENTS

We ensure the overall atmosphere of the FBL by organizing activities and establishing the convention schedule based on the proposals made. We supervise the panels and accompany participants during key moments.

HUMAN RESOURCES

We help each volunteer find their place within the staff while ensuring their well-being.

LEGAL AFFAIRS

We handle all legal matters related to the organization of FBL. This includes regulatory and contractual aspects, as well as matters related to the convention’s safety.

MAIN STAGE

We design, install, and operate the main stage, collaborating with events organizers to deliver unforgettable experiences for our attendees.

MERCH

We seek out and maintain relationships with various factories to provide goodies given to attendees during their visits.

REDACTION

We write and proofread the texts published on the website and app. We work in both languages used at the event, namely French and English.

SAFETY

We patrol throughout the convention to make sure everyone stays safe and that the event rules are respected. We work hand in hand with the hotel security and can step in to do a first basic medical check if needed.

THEMING

We handle all tasks related to the convention theme. From decorations to sound effects, we are responsible for designing and creating props, photoshoots, and sets.

VR

We bring the Virtual Reality dimension to the convention to make you discover and understand this world, or connect with your VR friends if you're already one of us.

We're in charge of the VR Panel and VRChat portal.

ARCADE LOUNGE

We organize multiple video and board game events for the convention and monitor all equipments for the Arcade and Board Game Lounge.

DEALER'S DEN

We assist FBL artists from their application to their installation and organize the Dealers' Den room to create a fluid and welcoming space. During the convention, we remain on hand to help and manage FBL merch.

FURSUIT AFFAIRS

We design, build, and maintain the equipment needed for the fursuit lounge and fursuit panels.

IT

We set up the website, the ticketing system and the FBL Companion app.

LOGISTICS

We ensure moving, stocking and inventory of the FBL stuff.

MEDIAS

We produce video and photo content for the convention, covering the event to create the aftermovie and shorter contents to promote the convention. We also manage the hotoshoots and also the livestream in partnership with Main Stage team.

PUBLIC RELATION

Our job is to promote the FBL and communicate on our various social networks, as well as manage the FBL's inter-company and international relations.

REGISTRATION

We ensure your registration, from your identity to the distribution of your badge, your lanyard, your goodies, your conbook.

SEE

We offer a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential space for you to talk, so that you can continue to enjoy the convention after a difficult moment. We patrol the area to be easily visible.

VENUE

We ensure coordination between the hotel/convention center and the FBL departments in order to guarantee a smooth event and meet everyone’s needs.

VISUAL CREATION

We design and manage the visual identity and graphic of the convention, by imagining the illustrations, the visuals (static or animated) of the event and the variations of the themes for the different years.
